Corporate Outreach Manager (India)

In alignment with our mission to improve the lives of billions of farmed fish, Fish Welfare Initiative is working to transition seafood demand to incorporate animal welfare practices in aquaculture.

 

We’re looking for a superb communicator with experience in food supply chains who can work with corporations and seafood buyers to transition demand in local, urban and online markets towards higher welfare fish.

Who We Are 

Fish Welfare Initiative (FWI) is a startup organization whose mission is to improve the welfare of fish as much as possible. We focus specifically on farmed fish, or fish raised in aquaculture.

We collaborate with corporations, governments and producers to improve animal welfare standards in aquaculture. We believe that this is the right thing for fish, farmers and consumers.

How You Will Make a Difference

The following are the core responsibilities of the Corporate Outreach Manager:

1. Be a well-informed expert.

  • Maintain a thorough understanding of domestic aquaculture supply chains.

  • Maintain a thorough and communicable understanding of the logistics, economics and public perception of higher welfare farmed fish.

2. Identify and communicate with promising leads.

  • Identify and conduct extensive research on corporate seafood buyers and markets in India.

  • Write professional emails and other outreach materials.

  • Confidently and clearly communicate the benefits (and costs) of higher welfare farmed fish to corporations.

  • Negotiate with promising leads to reach win-win agreements.

3. Incorporate higher welfare farmed fish into supply chains.

  • Collaborate with corporations to transition seafood supply chains to higher welfare fish.

  • Assist with the development of local and urban aquahubs focused on higher welfare fish.

4. Miscellaneous Duties

  • Build and maintain relationships with counterparts in the animal protection movement to promote synergy and collaboration.

  • Perform any other duties assigned by the Managing Director, India.

Qualifications

You must meet all of the following criteria to be considered for this position:

  • At least 1 year of experience in the animal protection, environmental or farmer livelihood sectors in similar corporate outreach or market linkage work.

  • A good understanding of domestic food supply chains, ideally with premier products such as organic, free-range or backyard poultry.

  • Exceptional communication and self-management skills.

  • Comfort with high pressure negotiations and in a high-energy work environment.

  • Written and verbal fluency in English.

  • Willing to travel extensively.

We are especially interested in candidates with a demonstrated commitment to improving the lives of animals.

The Fine Print

  • Location: Ideally Andhra Pradesh. However, anywhere in India is acceptable.

  • Position Status: Full or part time, depending on skills and needs of the candidate.

  • Benefits: Health insurance, flexible hours, work from home or office.

  • Start Date: ASAP, with some flexibility.

  • Pay: Rs. 60,000 to 1,30,000, depending on need and experience.
