An Overview of Approaches for Fish Welfare Improvements

When working to improve welfare for farm animals, an organization can take a number of approaches. For instance, current animal advocacy organizations are already engaged in corporate outreach, individual outreach, providing consultation to producers, and other approaches.


Below is a review of various approaches an organization can (and many already do) take to improve welfare for farmed animals. The list is not exhaustive. For each, a summary is given, as well as a list of pros and cons, crucial considerations, and finally Fish Welfare Initiative’s views on the approach’s promise as its long-term strategy.
